Many thanks to the Home Repair Resource Center for inviting me to speak on Strategies for Living Safely at Home at the Shaker Heights Senior Expo. The seniors learned lots of strategies, including low and no-cost options, for modifying their homes to support them as they age.

The residents of Sherri Park Apartments learned interesting facts about the architectural history of our city, dating back to 1868. They learned how the invention of steel revolutionized the building industry, that Nela Park was the first industrial research park in the nation, and that Cleveland was the first city to adopt a building code.

 Many thanks to Stone Gardens Assisted Living for inviting us out to share a sing along with their residents. We did fun songs from the 50s and 60s. The residents’ favorites were Hey Good Lookin’ and If I Had a Hammer.

 Fun times were had by all at the Board of Developmental Disabilities today during our annual holiday sing along! The favorites this year were Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman.

 Our Gentle Yoga class at the Jennings Center for Older Adults learned that yoga does not have to be scary or painful! They learned how to work to the level that’s right for them, and how to honor the special requirements of their bodies. They also learned meditation techniques to help them remain peaceful and calm.
