Great turnout today for our yoga class at The Jennings center for Older Adults. The senior residents and our guests from the Board of Developmental Disabilities learned some yoga moves to keep their bodies healthy, and some breathing and meditation practices to keep their minds and spirits at ease.
4/18/15 – Youth Transition Expo
It was such a pleasure meeting today with disabled young adults and their families at the Youth Transition Expo, sponsored by The Red Treehouse. The expo brought together many different providers and organizations offering services to disabled children who are transitioning from school into the workforce and college. It was so encouraging to see these wonderful young people entering such an exciting new phase of their lives!
4/16/15 – Therapy Dog Visit
4/15/15 – “Pieces of My Life”
We had a wonderful day of memories and sharing today at The Homewood Residence. The seniors brought photos and other precious mementos to the group, and told the stories behind them. They explained why each one was important to them. We learned a lot about each other that we didn’t know before! And we also learned how much we have in common.
4/10/15 – Collaborative Writing Project
Today was the final day of our week-long Collaborative Writing Project at The Jennings Center for Older Adults. We have been discussing three topics – “How to Live a Happy Life”, “How to Raise a Good Child” and “Religious Freedom”. Each resident contributed their opinions and experiences. Today we worked on a poetry project and the residents wrote some wonderful pieces, despite the fact that none of them had ever written poetry before!
