
Line Dancing – Choreographed dance sequences to fun, upbeat songs. It can be done either standing or seated. We teach the participants movements that are easy for everyone to do, then we put them all together into a group dance. The speed and repetition are modified to be appropriate for the physical and cognitive abilities of the group. It’s a great way for the group to work together as a team, get physical exercise, and have lots of fun. A perfect mood-elevator! (1 hour class)
Music and Movement – Upbeat movement sequences set to fun, catchy music. Using various handheld objects such as shakers, flags, and colorful ribbons we lead the group in dance-type exercises. It’s a great way to increase coordination and range of motion while having fun and elevating mood. It can be done either standing or seated. There is no “right or wrong” with the movements, so everyone can participate! No dance experience is necessary, and the complexity of the movements are geared towards the group’s level of ability. (1 hour class)
Mindful Movement for EveryBODY! – Mindful Movement for EveryBODY is a gentle movement class that expands our physical and mental capabilities. It can be done seated, standing and/or walking. The program uses simple gestures, repetition of movements, and measured rhythm as a basis for timing. It also incorporates simple breathing techniques to strengthen our focus and concentration, much like yoga and Tai Chi. This class is both relaxing and energizing, and it expands awareness of the body and breath. (1 hour class)
